On the 30th of July, the Antwerp Esports Festival will kick off in Belgium. What makes this event so special is that a self-funded South African team, Qoob Gaming, will be participating in the competition, including our very own Greg "Rora" van der Spuy.
This isn't Spuy's first time oversea's for gaming as in 2008 he went to Dreamhack in Jonkoping, Sweden after winning the rAge Call of Duty 4 FFA qualifier.
Qoob Gaming, made up of some formidable names such as Trevor "qu1k_shot" Henry and Andrew "xiR" Harper, have been placed in Group B. They see the 8th and 9th seeds of the tournament, RAGE.nl and YoYotech respectively, placed alongside them. This could be viewed as a bonus to our players as we haven't received a top 5 seed in our group.
The group matches will kick off on Friday the 30th, with groups A, D, E and F playing out their games, with the following day, the 31st, seeing our very own Qoob compete, as well as groups C, G and H. A round robin format will initially be used which will allow all teams to play in at least 6 matches.
For more info, head over to Tek-9 who will be following the event closely.
Pantheon will be covering the progress of Qoob throughout the event, and will be cheering for them all along the way. We wish them the best of luck.
